Our Corporate Social Responsibility strategy is focused on three principles: minimising our impact on the environment, enabling better learning and discovery outcomes, and protecting and supporting the people we work with.
Minimising our impact on the environment
We only buy responsibly sourced paper. We are a member of the PREPS group – a joint initiative of over 20 leading publishers – which enables us to ensure we are using resources that have minimal impact on the environment. We also work with the Carbon Trust in the UK to reduce our carbon footprint, which we use as a benchmark for our operations across the world.
Enabling better learning and discovery outcomes
With people at the heart of what we do, and as an ethical company, we support numerous charity projects.
We recently supported two intrepid English teachers on a voyage around the world in a tuk-tuk, stopping off to meet educational projects in remote villages in South America, Africa and Asia, and are continuing to help a Sri Lankan village recover from the devastation of the 2004 tsunami by investing in education in the region.
Protecting and supporting the people we work with
We are committed to helping our staff develop with regular training and access to online learning workshops at a time that suits them. We give our people around the world the chance to raise money for charity and contribute to their communities, at work and in their own time, and where we can, we also contribute to these causes and match their fundraising efforts.
