ESU Awards win for Macmillan Education
08 December 2016
Two Macmillan Education English Language Teaching (ELT) titles have been recognised by the English-Speaking Union at their annual awards, held on 28th November.
London, UK – December 2016
Pre-primary course, Dex took home The English in Action Award for Resources for Young Learners with Tiger Time awarded Runner Up in the same category.
The English-Speaking Union's annual English Language Awards celebrate and reward innovation and good practice in the field of ELT, focusing on materials that develop speaking skills. Entries are submitted in four categories and the winners were selected by a panel of experts and announced in a ceremony last week at Dartmouth House.
Dex authors, Sandie Mourao and Claire Medwell, said of the win,
“It’s fantastic that a pre-primary course has been given this award. The objective with this age group is to develop oracy skills to support later literacy development and this was key in our approach to writing the course. It was an honour to have been shortlisted alongside such high quality ELT products and we want to congratulate everyone who was nominated.”
Carol Read, author of Tiger Time alongside Mark Ormerod, also attended the awards ceremony and commented,
“Teachers often tell me how much they love using Tiger and so I was delighted that he was given this recognition at the ESU Awards.”
Daniel Buisan, Publisher of both courses, added,
“It was a great honour to accept the awards on behalf of Macmillan Education but Dex and Tiger Time would not have been possible without a fantastic team across design, media and editorial and I’d like to thank everyone for their hard work and commitment to both projects. The materials were developed with the end user in mind and children from all over the world are now learning English with the support of Dex and Tiger!”
