Joanne Gakonga is a teacher and teacher trainer at Solihull College. She teaches EAP on pre-university foundation year courses, predominantly with Chinese learners, has taught on pre-sessional courses and has experience of examining IELTS. She has worked in Taiwan, Australia, the Czech Republic and Kenya as well as in state colleges of Further Education in the UK, and one of her particular interests is in the challenges presented by lower level students who need to improve their academic language for university entry. She is one of the co-authors of ‘IELTS Foundation' published by
Macmillan (2004).
